This man is a dabbawallah. The literal translation is “one who carries a box.” Everyday 4,000 dabbawallahs deliver more than 160,000 lunches. Indian wives make their husband’s lunches, the dabbawallah picks up the box, which is actually a cylinder with three to five compartments, and takes it by train to the city and returns the cylinder to its rightful owner at the end of the day.
